You read that right, these “excess deaths” as they are referred to in the report occurred in the United States.
Medical Journal Article: 14,000 U.S. Deaths Tied to Fukushima Reactor Disaster Fallout

… Authors Joseph Mangano and Janette Sherman note that their estimate of 14,000 excess U.S. deaths in the 14 weeks after the Fukushima meltdowns is comparable to the 16,500 excess deaths in the 17 weeks after the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986. The rise in reported deaths after Fukushima was largest among U.S. infants under age one. The 2010-2011 increase for infant deaths in the spring was 1.8 percent, compared to a decrease of 8.37 percent in the preceding 14 weeks.

The IJHS article will be published Tuesday and will be available online as of 11 a.m. EST at http://www.radiation.org.

Just six days after the disastrous meltdowns struck four reactors at Fukushima on March 11, scientists detected the plume of toxic fallout had arrived over American shores. Subsequent measurements by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found levels of radiation in air, water, and milk hundreds of times above normal across the U.S. The highest detected levels of Iodine-131 in precipitation in the U.S. were as follows (normal is about 2 picocuries I-131 per liter of water): Boise, ID (390); Kansas City (200); Salt Lake City (190); Jacksonville, FL (150); Olympia, WA (125); and Boston, MA (92). …

I just watched this video with study author Janette Sherman:

As I’m writing this post I’m listening to the 12/19/11 radio program with both authors at http://www.radiation.org/ They are doing a great job explaining to callers how the tiniest exposure to radiation can cause cancer treatment to fail because chemo therapy kills the immune system. Anyone with a compromised immune system is at great risk for immediate effects of radiation exposure. For the rest of us, it might take 20 or 30 years until we get thyroid cancer or another illness caused by radiation.

It costs about $400 for a decent accurate geiger counter, but none of the food products from the west coasts are tested.  Why don’t the farmers test their products and declare them to be radiation free?  I suppose they’re afraid of the results.

Since we don’t have a TV, I don’t know what’s on the government controlled media, but searching the web about this study I don’t see ABC, FOX or CNN. It’s up to bloggers, non profit organizations and RUSSIA TV to give the American people a clue:

Stay away from cow milk, milk products and Pacific FISH!

As Jose is vegan, I quit cow milk and rarely have meat and fish. We love our almond milk substitute for milk. However, I do like cheese and I’ve been buying the Tillamook cheddar cheese because it doesn’t contain the RGBH milk. I’ve heard that their cheddar cheese ages 9 months, but I just looked at their site and found the 15-months aged cheddar. So I’m good for a while.

This is all very untimely as I was looking forward to some salmon at Canyon’s End (formerly Ken’s Pizza) while Jose is visiting family. Here we are in the 21st century and “the greatest country in the world” refuses to ensure a safe food supply. California FINALLY has a petition going to require labeling of foods containing genetically modified ingredients. The so-called regulators at the FDA and USDA ought to be hung from the nearest trees — all they regulate is unjust profits for big ag and chemical corporations at the expense of our health and ultimately lives.

Since the US government deliberately STOPPED monitoring radiation levels to protect big ag and the Japanese government is equally corrupt and won’t tell the truth, I’m not going to be dancing in the rain during those rare summer storms when we actually get some moisture.

The Fukushima reactors continue to deteriorate and to pollute the ocean with radioactive water. The Japanese decided to BURN radioactive material (radiation does NOT magically go away when burned, it just goes up in the air and blows around the world). Another earthquake or even just continued deterioration could leave Tokyo uninhabitable. This is a LOT worse than Chernobyl and there’s NO end in sight.

There’s nothing we can do about our government’s disregard for our health and lives, but we CAN avoid hazardous foods and most important, make sure we have a strong immune system by generally eating healthy foods and exercising.
